Foster City Pediatric Medical Group Joins Stanford Medicine Children’s Health

This month, Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Pediatrics – Foster City becomes the newest practice to join Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, the largest health care system in the Bay Area and one of the few in the country exclusively dedicated to pediatric and obstetric care.

Formerly Foster City Pediatric Medical Group, the practice began in 1988 and consists of three board-certified pediatricians: Debra Yeh, MD; Subha Aahlad, MD; and Christine Hung, MD. Now, as part of Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, they plan to continue providing the same excellent care they have offered for the last 30 years, as well as the additional benefits of being part of a world-class health care system.

As stated by Dr. Yeh, having the support of Stanford Medicine Children’s Health means she will have more time to do what she loves best: connecting with her patients. “I think it is going to be wonderful,” Dr. Yeh shared. “I am looking forward to focusing on just being the best pediatrician I can be and not worrying about other administrative duties. It was definitely a good decision for us.”

According to Andrew Smith, MD, medical director, Packard Children’s Health Alliance, “Our team has been familiar with the physicians from this practice for many years; they are all outstanding pediatricians and will be great assets to our network of care. They each represent our network commitments to quality and service, and we are thrilled to welcome them into our group of primary care practices on the Peninsula.”

Dr. Aahlad believes the partnership will help the practice support families because it will be able to accept a wider range of insurance providers. Being part of such a large network allows the physicians to keep providing the same individualized attention they always have, with the advantage of increased access to the latest medical technology.

“Joining a bigger group will provide a more stable and efficient platform for me to deliver the best care to my patients,” Dr. Aahlad said. “As a well-known organization, [Stanford Medicine Children’s Health] gives us an opportunity to reach more people and more opportunities to grow as physicians.” One of those benefits will be the transition to MyChart, which is easier to navigate than their current portal.

Another added benefit will be an easier connection to the comprehensive clinical services offered by the network, along with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, one of the top children’s hospitals in the country. Dr. Hung cites this as one of the reasons she is looking forward to the change.

“I am excited for the transition. We have always referred to Stanford for specialty care, so we already had that relationship. It will be good for us and for the families … a lot of families know and trust the Stanford name,” she explained.

As a Stanford University alum, Dr. Hung is already very familiar with the group’s reputation. “It feels good to be coming back. I have a very fond place in my heart for Stanford. So, for me it’s very comfortable, like this was meant to be,” she said.
