We here at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health would like to welcome Altos Pediatric Associates in Los Altos to our expanding network of care.
The pediatricians of Altos Pediatric Associates have been serving families throughout Silicon Valley for nearly 40 years, providing the highest quality care in a warm, friendly environment located in a residential neighborhood in Los Altos, California.
Founded in 1978 by Penny Loeb, MD, the practice now includes six physicians, one nurse practitioner and medical staff, many of whom have been with the practice for over 20 years. The team works collaboratively to provide a medical home to families that caters to each individual child’s needs.
Altos Pediatric Associates is located on Altos Oaks Drive between a park and an elementary school — a perfect location for a pediatric practice. Amy Oro, MD, who has been practicing there since 1995, says that the office, which looks out onto the park, has a “very warm, homey feel to it. There’s a big fish tank, which kids appreciate, and it’s just a very fun office. It speaks to the kind of care we are trying to provide — a place where people feel they have a medical home, where everyone knows them and where a person actually answers the phone.”
Having intentionally chosen to work in a small practice setting, the pediatricians at Altos Pediatric Associates provide a more relaxed pace and enjoy focusing on patient education. These pediatricians have trained at some of the premier institutions in the country and bring vast expertise gained from years of interacting with patients and raising their own children.
Being able to balance work and life is very important to the providers at Altos Pediatric Associates. Debra Babcock, MD, who has been with the practice for 24 years, says, “We all have similar goals in taking care of families. We all work part time in order to be home with our own kids, which is a model you don’t see everywhere.”
Working collaboratively is also one of the practice’s core values. “We have worked as a team more than any other practice I’ve seen,” says Mary Ann Zetes, MD. “If someone is behind in seeing patients, another doctor will help out. We’ve been very collaborative. We are so unique in that regard.”
On joining the Stanford Medicine Children’s Health network, Dr. Amy Oro says, “We’re very happy that with Stanford Medicine Children’s Health we’re going to be able to keep our unique location and our staff. That’s very important to us. We’ve had a relationship with Stanford since our inception, so becoming a formal member of the network will be a way to enhance those ties and provide even better care for our patients.”
