A Spring EGG-Stravaganza at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford

Kids celebrate spring activity outside the patient room

From bubbles to ice cream to therapy dogs dressed as bunnies – nearly 50 young patients and their care teams enjoyed an egg-cellent spring celebration at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.

Packard Children’s care team set up an egg scavenger hunt in the Dunlevie Garden for patients and their families to enjoy. Children followed a path to find eggs hidden around the outdoor play area. At the end of the trail, the kids were able to exchange what they found for different prizes like LEGOS, bubble-blowing toys, and other games at the staffed stations. Those who were unable to participate in the outside event had goodie bags delivered to their rooms.

According to Samantha Johnson, Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Child Life Specialist, the afternoon was all about kids having fun. “Our goal is to facilitate these activities and events so that our patients are able to celebrate the season as they usually would with their family and friends despite the fact that they’re currently in the hospital.”

On Sunday, health care teams will be delivering Easter baskets to patients rooms. A special thanks to our staff and Stanford Federal Credit Union for bringing this experience to our patients.
