100 Reasons Why Packard Children's is Expanding: #99

Our dedication to children and expectant mothers means we understand what kids love most. Packard Children’s expansion design builds in a sense of fun and discovery to our future main lobby. Interactive play huts will invite children and young visitors to play and explore, balancing a serene environment for care with the delight of being a child.

Shaped and textured in an organic way, the play huts echo the hospital’s design references to nature and the outdoors.  The huts also encourage different kinds of play: Some designs will inspire kids to climb and be physical, while others will encourage quieter play and reading.

“The idea to is create an environment that stimulates and distracts, so children feel safe and welcome,” says Colette Case, director of Child and Family Life Services.
