Stanford Medicine Women’s Health – Palo Alto, led by Jagdip Powar, MD, was the first practice to join the Stanford Children’s Health network in 2012. Their legacy of providing excellent care to women throughout the South Bay exemplifies the dedication and commitment to Bay Area families that the Stanford Children’s Health network is known for. For more than 30 years, Dr. Powar has served as a highly respected medical doctor in Palo Alto, focusing on women’s health, and has delivered thousands of babies to families in the South Bay and beyond.

On July 10, Zena Kharsa, MD will be joining the team at Stanford Medicine Women’s Health – Palo Alto. She completed her undergraduate degree at Stanford University, and went on to study medicine at University of California San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Kharsa returned to Palo Alto to complete her internship and residency at Stanford University School of Medicine.

During medical school, Dr. Kharsa managed a student-run women’s free clinic which fostered her love of women’s care. Her clinical interests include general gynecologic and obstetric care, prenatal care, gynecologic surgery including a focus on minimally invasive surgery, cervical cancer screening, management of abnormal uterine bleeding, contraceptive counseling, and family planning services.

“After completing my residency at Stanford these past four years, I couldn’t be more thrilled to remain a part of the Stanford Children’s family as I join Dr. Powar at Stanford Medicine Women’s Health – Palo Alto this July,” said Dr. Kharsa. “I look forward to establishing a flourishing obstetrics and gynecology practice under his mentorship and guidance, and am excited to play an important role in providing care to women in our community.”

Together with Dr. Powar, Dr. Kharsa and the team at Stanford Medicine Women’s Health – Palo Alto will continue to provide the highest level of care to women with a focus on personal attention. “My staff and I are very excited about Dr. Zena Kharsa joining our team. Our practice has specialized in providing excellent and personalized medical care to many generations of women in the San Francisco Bay area and she will be an excellent fit,” said Dr. Powar. “Dr. Kharsa is a very well-trained and personable physician with sound medical judgment and skills and we cannot wait to have her join our group.  She will be a wonderful asset as Stanford Medicine Women’s Health – Palo Alto continues to grow in the community.”
