Packard Children’s Ranked Among Nation’s Best

In the U.S. News & World Report publication of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals for 2012-13, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford received the highest rankings of any children’s hospital in Northern California.

In the annual survey, released June 5, Packard Children’s was the only Northern California children’s hospital with programs ranked in the nation’s Top 10, which recognized both cardiology/heart surgery and nephrology. Packard Children’s programs in gastroenterology, neonatology and pulmonology medicine were also among the nation’s Top 20, rating Packard higher than any other children’s hospital in the region.

Packard Children’s is the only Northern California children’s hospital receiving recognition in all 10 pediatric specialties surveyed by U.S. News. Other specialties making the list include diabetes and endocrinology, urology, cancer, neurology and neurosurgery, and orthopedics.

The annual survey is based on a methodology that looks at reputation, outcome, and care-related measures such as volume, nursing care, advanced technology, credentialing and other factors
